LIBS Handheld Metal Analyzer

This is a handheld LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) metal composition analyzer by VELA Instruments, USA.
Compared to conventional XRF analyzers, alloy grades can be determined in as little as one second, making the process of determining alloys extremely fast. Multiple models are available to suit various needs. The device features intuitive usability and low maintenance costs.
Adopting an advanced laser system

Features of the Vera Instruments LIBS Metals Analyzer Series
・All models use the LIBS analysis method, which has extremely high analytical accuracy, and are lightweight (starting from 1.2 kg) handheld models that can be used with one hand.
・All models are IP54 certified, so you can use them safely outdoors.
・The overwhelming analysis speed ″1second ″ enables many determinations to be made in a short time.
・The alloy grades that can be determined are aluminum, copper, stainless steel, steel, nickel, magnesium, titanium, lead, cobalt, and zinc.
・There is no need to notify local governments or select an X-ray work supervisor, which are required with XRF analyzers, and of course there is no risk of X-ray exposure.
・The laser oscillation has an interlock function, allowing for safe use.
・There are no easily damaged parts such as the protective film at the tip of the XRF analyzer, or any other wear parts.
・We also offer models specialized for detecting light elements that cannot be measured by XRF, such as lithium (Li), beryllium (Be), and carbon (C).
It is possible to detect lithium in aluminum alloys (VELA®-Li), which can damage melting furnaces, the rare metal beryllium in copper alloys (VELA®-ASC), detect the carbon content of steel materials with high sensitivity (Pegasus® series), and distinguish between SUS316 and ultra-low carbon stainless steel SUS316L (Pegasus®-C+).
・The installation and running costs are low. If you can take advantage of subsidies from the Japanese government, you can get it even cheaper.
・The product has a two-years warranty (Vela series), and if there is a problem, we will respond promptly. We also provide this service for a fee after the warranty period.

Operation
・Operation is simple. Simply turn on the power, place the tip on the object to be measured, and pull the trigger. Measurement results are displayed in about one second.
An interlock (safety device) is installed at the tip to prevent laser emission into the air.
・The metal grade database contains approximately 150 types by default, but you can add more as needed.
・The operation panel supports various languages, and metal grade names can also be customized.
